Our relationship with local farmers goes right back to the beginnings of the Weetabix Food
Company. Today, we have our Growers Group, a collective of over 150 farmers who are proud to
grow the
best quality wheat for Weetabix.
We only source wheat for Weetabix Original from farms within 50 miles of our mills in
Northamptonshire, reducing food miles involved in transporting our main raw ingredient.
We meet Red Tractor standards for fertiliser use. This means less nitrogen and more
environmental preservation!
Our high level of environmental stewardship protects hedgerows, creates habitats for bees and
looks after wildflower borders.
Reducing energy – we generate most of the electricity for our Burton Latimer factory in our
on-site power plant.
Minimising our waste – none of the waste from our factories is sent to landfill and we are
working with WRAP to cut our surplus.
Minimising your waste – our packaging is now 92% recyclable, and we have plans to reach 100% by
2025.
Conserving water – 10% reduction in water usage from 2019 to September 2024.
Modernising manufacturing – we’ve invested £30 million to make our factories use less energy and
create less emissions.
