Some things in life work better in pairs. Mac ‘n’ cheese. Bread and butter. Mario and Luigi. And for a bowl of Weetabix to feel complete, it needs a breakfast drink buddy.

5 easy breakfast drinks with your Weetabix

Life is busy at the best of times, and first thing in the morning, we’ve all got plenty on our plate. If time is of the essence, here are some of the simplest breakfast drinks to consider alongside your bowl of Weetabix.

  1. Weetabix and juice

Freshly squeezed orange juice has long been a breakfast drink favourite, but your options are endless – from pineapple to pomegranate. But take it squeezy: according to the NHS, juice should be limited to one small glass (150ml) per day due to the sugar content.

Is Weetabix Original with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice the best breakfast and drink combo?

  1. Weetabix and smoothies

For some early risers, the best thing to drink in the morning is quite simply a smoothie. For a delicious drink to accompany your Weetabix, crank up the blender and blitz some classic flavours. Think mango and passion fruit; apple and kiwi; and strawberry and banana.

Why not pair Weetabix Protein with a frozen banana and peanut butter smoothie?

  1. Weetabix and tea or coffee

Whether you’re after a quick caffeine fix, or a comforting winter warmer, a nice cuppa makes for a classic breakfast drink alongside your bowl of Weetabix. In moderation, tea or coffee counts towards your daily fluid intake, so it’s one way to hydrate in the morning.

  1. Weetabix and milk

Sure, Weetabix and milk usually belong in the same bowl, but milk is also one of the best drink options for a morning breakfast sidekick.

If you like your Weetabix with yoghurt, fruit and a whole host of toppings, you can always pair your breakfast with a cool glass of dairy milk, or plant-based alternatives like unsweetened fortified almond, oat or soy milk. A refreshing mix of flavours to kick-start your day!

Is drinking smoothies for breakfast healthy?

While smoothies are sometimes promoted as a healthy breakfast drink, many medical experts point out that smoothies often have high sugar content.

Just like fruit juice, the NHS advises that we should limit our breakfast smoothie intake to one small glass (150ml) a day due to their sugar content. Whole fruit is a healthier breakfast option as it retains all the fibre (roughage) in the fruit, which can often be removed or reduced when making smoothies.

And if you fancy something different, why not make a veg smoothie? Ingredients like beetroot, cucumber and carrot can be blended to make a delicious breakfast drink.

Try Smoothie-a-Bix and make Weetabix the icing on the cake – or at least the sprinkle on the top – of your favourite smoothie.

Which breakfast drinks are considered healthy?

We’ll let the medical experts decide which is the best thing to drink in the morning from a health perspective (spoiler alert: it’s not strawberry milkshake).

But here are some ‘feel good, taste good’ breakfast drink ideas:

  • Coconut water
  • Ginger tea
  • Matcha green tea
